Saint Mary Magdalene: How To Proclaim the Resurrection In Our Time

Saint Mary Magdalene: How To Proclaim the Resurrection In Our Time

“I have Seen The Lord.”

~ St. Mary Magdalene (John 20:18)

Today is the feast of St. Mary of Magdala, who was given the special task of being the first individual to announce the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ to the fearful disciples.

She is an emblem of courage, strength and one who was powerfully aware of the power of love.

She loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and was unrelenting in her mourning after his crucifixion.

She was very courageous and led the team of women to visit the tomb at a time that such an action may result in persecution or even death, given the persistence of hate that filled the atmosphere.

The disciples of Jesus Christ locked themselves in the upper room, fearing that the Roman soldiers may come after them and do the same thing that was done to their Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ!

Today the same St. Mary Magdalene is challenging us; how are we going to handle the task of announcing the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ to our world, and beginning with our family?

What does the resurrection of Jesus Christ mean to you and what are the ramifications in believing in this eternal truth and how can we become the courier?

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our faith as a Christian would have been vanity!

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the message of salvation could have been false!

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there would have been no life after death!

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, heaven and hell would be unreal!

Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there could have been no hope for humanity!

The resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ is the culmination of the plans of salvation for mankind by the almighty God, beginning from the text in the Book of Genesis about the interaction with the Serpent; “Her seed shall crush your head”

How can we become the courier of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as St. Mary Magdalene did today?

We must love God with all our heart, all our might and all our strength and we must also love our neighbor as ourselves.

In order to love God wholeheartedly, we must be willing to allow his will to prevail in our lives. Therefore no matter whatever circumstances we may be going through, our faith in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ demands that we hold on and put our faith, hope and trust completely on the divine providence and mercy of our God.

In a nutshell, trust and obey and live in love and do right with the law of the almighty God, which are written in our hearts.

In respect of loving your neighbor as yourselves, without an iota of doubt, we are challenged to show compassion, understanding and mercy towards others!

The resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ can be proclaimed in our lives when we among others engage in some of these actions that are intended to manifest the salvation of our God in our lives:

When we share our faith in God with others we proclaim the resurrection

When we feed the hungry, we participate in the message of the resurrection

When we clothe the naked

When we visit the sick

When we give drink to the thirsty

When we visit the prisoners

When we comfort those who mourn

When we rejoice with those who celebrate

When we offer compassion to strangers

When we open our hearts and share our lives with others

The resurrection of Jesus Christ can be made manifest additionally,

When we welcome those we considered being refugees

When we welcome those that are immigrants

When we welcome those that suffer from wars and other conflicts

When we welcome people irrespective of their race

When police treat blacks based on love, the resurrection of Jesus is real

When blacks treat police with love and respect, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is real

When leaders draft policies that accentuate life, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is real

When world leaders stop trading on arms and weapons, the resurrection of Christ is real

In our times, the resurrection of Jesus Christ will only be meaningful when we use it as the basis of living the life that will bring glory to God and love to mankind.

Are you going to be St. Mary Magdalene today?

My family and me have decided to be agents of the resurrection of Jesus Christ by trying to bring love and happiness, peace and understanding, humility and obedience, and sharing whatever we have; food, drink, clothes and home with those who are in need of these things and most importantly, sharing our faith as Christians too.

May God bless you all! Amen!
