Ordeal of an Immigrant: A Letter from My Prison Room to My Children

Ordeal of an Immigrant: A Letter from My Prison Room to My Children

For me to live is Christ and to die is gain
~ St. Paul to the Philippians

My dear Children,

I know you are all still wondering for how long I am going to be in this prison room! It has been over three and half years and counting since I was relegated to my dehumanizing status in which I have been unable to provide for you as a result of the stigmatization that has made it impossible for me to work or make a living in the country that is the “Land of the Free and Brave.” Sometimes I think about Mohammed Ali and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and try to imagine what is like to be incarcerated because of justice delayed.
How is your mother taking it in? I pray that the almighty God will continue to endow her with wisdom, strength and the courage to wait upon our God and therefore remain faithful.

And without asking, it is tough for you all, because I am unable to take you all on the vacation we had initially planned because of lack of income. However, please do not dismay, for initially I thought I was being buried, but in reality our God just planted me like the mustard seed. I will germinate and bear fruit most abundantly as long as I wait upon the Lord my God who will grant me vindication in accordance to his plans for my life.
Today’s weather is so beautiful considering the fact that only some day’s back the temperature was below zero degree Celsius ( Yes, go ahead and convert it to Fahrenheit, since in America we are more familiar with the later). The sun is beautiful and coupled with the gentle breeze this fall season feels so amazing and my faith and hope and love for God is further encouraged.

I am writing to you my children because the youngest among you in his letter wrote he could not understand why I have to suffer this much, when I was a victim of attorney misrepresentation and he felt I am being victimized twice; first they took my source of livelihood and secondly justice is being delayed, and I quite understand with him and consequently I will attempt to summarize again, the events that has led to my present predicament.

I was born in Nigeria and trained as a medical scientist; however what I am most proud of is being a father to you all and a husband to your mother, the sweetheart I met at the National Hospital Abuja. Then I was invited to the United States of America by the American Association of Clinical Chemistry to receive the International Travel Grant Award, which is given to deserving laboratorian from the developing countries of the world. After receiving this award in Orlando Florida, I departed for Abuja and cannot express in words how happy I was to be united with your mother. As fate may have it, I received another invitation to present my abstracts which I submitted to the Clinical Ligand Assay Society. Well I made it and it was greatly successful indeed.

Now your mother and I decided to explore opportunities in the United States of America, this was after I narrated the uncountable advices I received from professional colleagues that believe my training is suitable and qualify me for the specialty visa type called the H1B. We prayed about it and I was given her blessings before the presence of our God, who united us as man and wife. Without doubt, it was not easy, however by the grace of the almighty God, I was given the strength to bear everything and behold it came to pass, OMV Medical Inc. find it in their heart through Mr. Mike Geraci to file the H1B Visa for me. It was approved and there began a different phase in my life; I was posted to Mercy Hospital and then had the opportunity to begin the process of working on brining the family to the USA. Everything was working according to our plans, and then it happened, after series of setbacks, I visited Nigeria and behold that was how we relocated to the United States of America legally and without compromising our faith in God.

Then emerges the darkness at Mercy Hospital and the woes that followed this dark era hunted me to this day and therefore the necessity of this letter. I lost my job after over five years of meritorious services in which I was blessed to receive numerous international and national awards while at Mercy and even awards by the hospital too. I will not saturate you with trying to neither vindicate myself nor explain the inimical inclinations that led to my loosing the job. However I want you to bear in mind that we humans can be evil indeed. I was deceived, confused and made mockery of by the same institution that claim to protect my interest, when it went behind and revoke my H1B Visa, while pretending they will support my quest for better opportunities elsewhere, in fact, they wrote a letter of introduction during one of my job application and offer processes.

I pick up two jobs in less than four weeks of departing Mercy hospital; at Sinai Hospital and later Laurel Regional Hospital. In both instances, I have never claimed to be a citizen and presented all the papers and documentation I was asked to provide and this include what was called the ALIEN NUMBER. I willingly resign these two opportunities in order to focus at the new job at SNBL Clinical Pharmacology Center in Baltimore. It was at SNBL that for the first time I was made to understand that I need a new H1B petition notwithstanding the validity of my I-140 Approval!

The genesis of my immigration mediocrity was further compounded by the attorney I ran into through a referral from a fellow Nigerian, brother and friend, and I understand he meant well for me, regrettably the attorney I had to deal with was too greedy for money and sold her soul to the Devil. She mistreated me and actually made me feel like less of a human being, nevertheless, my God was able to strengthen me by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and therefore through all the ordeals, I survived. When it became obvious through the help of a Federal Senator that this attorney was not representing my interest, I had to find another law firm and unfortunately my issue remained unresolved! In fact as a matter of fact, it got worse, leading to my present imprisonment, in which I was ‘ban’ from engaging in any form of work that I can do to feed my family. Sometimes I liken my situation to asking an individual whose hands are tight with a lanyard and then asked to go and fight a Goliath.

My God continued to support my family through his divine providence and later the attorney that mishandled my immigration papers was found guilty of professional misconduct by the Attorney Grievance Commission and disbarred. Unfortunately this development is yet to benefit me in any practical way, with the exception that she will never hurt anybody especially vulnerable immigrants again.
Our God later sent an attorney to us to attempt to resolve my issues, so that I can become employable again and this is where we are so far.

Now, I do not want any of you nor your mother to despair over anything, because by the faith we have in God, there is nothing that comes our way that God is oblivious of. Our God knows what assails us every day of our lives and therefore, what is required of us is nothing short of love, hope and faith in the almighty God who created us and gave us the gifts of life and love and faith in him.
Yes indeed, it has not been easy, well, it was never easy for our Lord Jesus Christ who did nothing wrong and yet was put to death by ignorant men, who thing they were serving the God that unfortunately they did not know nor understands.

What I ask of you all is prayer! Let us continue to pray without ceasing and continue to wait upon the Lord, whose ways are not our ways and whose mercy, love and compassion, justice and divine providence is as high as the heavens from the earth. Nothing is impossible for our God to do and therefore, if I live, it is for Christ and should death come it is gain for me.
My children, I encourage you all to rejoice in the Lord and make a joyful noise to our Lord and God because his steadfast love endures forever.

I am in the prison today not because I have done something wrong by commission; on the contrary it might have been as a result of omission, an omission that arises as a result of human deceptions, greed and unfaithfulness, wickedness, godlessness and inhumanity and selfishness. Today I forgive all those who have contributed to putting me in this prison right now.
My God told me that just like in the case of St. Paul and many others that have to be put in prison as a result of injustices and lack of love, compassion and mercy, this time is assigned to me to reflect upon the goodness of the almighty in my life, and therefore, my new task is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ until he comes again.
Be encouraged and therefore keep me in your prayers, as I patiently await my vindication from the almighty God!

You all know that I fear no man and trust only in God for true justice and freedom and even though it seems to be delaying, I would rather wait upon the Lord, to whom a thousand days is like a day, than try on my own to resolve the crisis that assails me at the moment. I offer my life to my God through Jesus Christ and by faith, I believe I will soon be release from this mental prison created by false accusations from those who took my money and refused to provide the services that they were paid for.
I have to rest now, for I am anxious to say my prayer, for right now that is my ultimate consolation. I used to read about God, but in recent times, I have seen the Lord with my eyes indeed! Whenever I think am about to be handed over to the evil one, my God will send his angels and saints to rescue me from the mouth of the dragon. Today is not any different, not at all, in fact it was even made sweeter because of the benefactors that the almighty God continued to send our ways.
It will not hurt for you to remember this story and share it with your siblings as I have already shared it with your mother, my wife.

I was thinking about how to pay the mortgage and other utilities and then the devil wanted to tempt me by making my heart to be so burden that I began to think God is wicked, otherwise why did such a loving, kind and compassionate God will allow me to go through such a horrific experience of not being able to pay my bills? My heart was greatly disturbed and I was truly depressed, when my cell phone rang and beholds it was one of our benefactors! First, he was just checking and replying to one of my text and before I knew it, he promised to wire $230, then another one promised $200 of which your mother did go to collect. And as if that wasn’t enough, the same that sent $230, two days later promised another $1000 when I narrated the various options we are being saturated with, including but not limited to selling our house and moving to Canada! When we went to his office to pick up the check, behold it was for $1200!

Why am I telling you all these? Simply, I want you all to put your trust, hope and faith in God and not man. The almighty God can turn the impossible to become possible, and this example of his divine providence in our lives is clearly the manifestation of how to the almighty nothing is impossible. In a nutshell, within less than a week, the almighty God transform a negative bank account into a plus $1830.00
I therefore repented of my evil inclinations of thinking that my God was wicked and does not care about me, instead my heart is full of his praise and my soul magnify the Lord my God.

This is what I want you all to hold on to; God! Hold on to God and nothing else. Do good, love the almighty God by loving your neighbors as yourself, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor your mother, father and mankind, love the Lord your God with all your being and do not stop trusting, hoping and believing in God’s divine providences. Our God is a faithful God and he never fail, therefore run to him in your distress, praise him at all times and be the instrument of his peace.

Finally, I still remember my promises to you all; we shall travel the world for our family vacation- we shall travel to see where the Blessed Bishop Fidelis Orgah was laid to rest, then visitation to our native lands, then to Jerusalem and when we are home, we shall make it to Chicago, Atlanta and Florida again. And I am aware of your needs for the cell phones and laptop computers. The plans that God has for us is better than the ones I have for you all and consequently my spirit is uplifted whenever I think about the wonderful ways that the almighty does his own thing!

My children please remain faithful! Love God and love man! Respect your mother and man! And respect yourself too! And for the sake of God, do not grieve the good spirit within you. We are coming out of this very soon.

The Armor of God: Live by Love and not by the Constitution

The Armor of God: Live by Love and not by the Constitution

Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power.
Put on the armor of God so that you may be able
to stand firm against the tactics of the Devil.
~ Ephesians 6: 10-11

Regrettably in our contemporary society many of us would rather draw our strength and might from the so called self- proclaimed doctrine of “Believe in you” than accept our limitations and turn over to God for the true strength that we need to overcome the evil one. We need God, period!
The armor of God is very simple and does not cost any money nor does it require excruciating task on our part. On the contrary what is mostly required are Faith, Hope and Love, and behold we can become equipped with this great armor of God, which surpasses any power on earth.
Recognizing the fact that we are not fighting just a physical battle, but one which is spiritual in dimension and against the wicked forces in the heavenly world, rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this Dark Age is one first step to realizing the utmost need for the armor of God.
So what is this armor of God?
According to Saint Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, the armor of God is found in our ability to stand for the truth, act in righteousness and proclaim the Good News of peace and at all times we must be equipped with our faith in God believing that our salvation comes from none other than the almighty, who created heaven and earth.

The physical descriptive attributes of the Armor of God is, the shield of faith, the belt of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, the sandals of readiness, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. In order to draw from the spiritual strength and might of the almighty God, we must see in these physical attributes the spiritual virtues of love, hope and faith to be able to acquire and work with the almighty God and therefore defeat the Devil.

Love as an Armor of God

The very essence of God is love! Jesus Christ died for us because of love and we are given the second chance of making heaven because of love too. It is love that enables us to be subordinate to one another and help put a smile on a stranger’s face. Love essentially makes our world go around and help us to live in peace and harmony. The absence of love is the absence of God and where God is not found, war, hatred and disunity permeates and makes lives unbearable for mankind.
The love that God is encouraging us to exercise is that which come with self-sacrifices and self-condemnation as opposed to the worldly love of personal aggrandizement and selfishness. If it does not hurt you to give, then it is not enough! Jesus Christ gave us all and we too must be ready to give our all in order to manifest the compassion, mercy and infinite goodness of God in our life as a child of God.

Hope as an Armor of God

When you live in anticipation of tomorrow that you have not yet seen, you are living with the hope of another day, and therefore you must do so patiently and with complete trust in the almighty God! A person whose hope is based on his personal attribute and devoid of dependence on God is not exercising the hope that is an example of the Armor of God.
If you are living in hope of a better tomorrow, the you must also become an instrument of a better tomorrow for other people that cross your path, otherwise you are not living based on the tenet of God’s law of love which encourages us to be compassionate to others.

Faith as an Armor of God

Our lives must revolve around the fundamental teaching that there is God, and not only that, but our God is a faithful, just and compassionate one, full of love, mercy and wisdom, understanding and knowledge and always keep his promises.
Our faith enables us to become wise in appreciating the limitations of our lives on earth and the eternity of heaven and therefore challenges us to be the instrument of God’s peace on earth. Additionally, our faith tells us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for us and paves the way for eternal life for all who called upon his mighty name and proclaim that he is the Messiah and Savior of the world.
As a result of our faith in God, we are endowed with his power and might to be able to love him with all our heart and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
The opposite of faith is not simply doubt, but in the spiritual and physical realms truly death! A man without faith is just synonymous to an individual that might be likening to a dead man walking or a heart that is beating only because it is a muscle!
A child of God must be equipped with this armor of God, otherwise in the midst of temptation; he will fall like the man whose house was swept away by the torrential rain because it was built on sand, instead of on the rock.

Today’s Challenge

Irrespective of whom you are, where you live and where you originated from, irrespective of whether you are a Christian and no matter your denomination, we are challenged by our Lord Jesus Christ to live as his followers, through love, hope and faith in him as the savior of the world.
We can never stand vindicated before God on the last day simply because of our self-righteousness!  Our salvation and vindication shall come through grace and by our Lord Jesus Christ.

However, we must live by love, for love and through love; otherwise we cannot become the instrument of God’s peace on earth. As a result, we must stop living based on man-made laws and constitution that does not bring glory to God nor propagate the love of God and love of mankind. Any constitution that dehumanizes mankind must never be practiced by a child of God.

If you are living in a country where it is legal to kill, as a Christian, say no by your action and not words alone, so that through you the light of God may shine in the darkness.

If you are living in a country where it is legal not to pray in public places, reject that by your life and action and say your prayers guided by the Holy Spirit.

If you are living in a country where slavery, racism and other forms of discrimination are legal, reject such by refusing to practice these kinds of evils. The law of God is love and that is why it is superior to any constitution in the world.

We must love God above all things on earth!
We must love our neighbors as ourselves!
We must love our perceived enemies and pray for them.
We must love the “others” that are different from us!
We must love those we think are sinners, because we are sinners before God!
We must love those caught up in the choice of abortion and pray for them!
We must love those who hate immigrants and refugees and pray for them too.
We must love and pray for those who molest children and women!
We must love and pray for those who engaged in wars and killed senselessly!
We must love and pray for those who are racists and see nothing good in others!
We must love and pray for presidential aspirants all over the world irrespective of their stands.
We must love our families, friends and humanity.

Until we are willing to seek God’s intervention and help to do all these, the armor of God may still be lacking in us, and this is not God’s fault but ours, because we simply closed the door to love, and true love is none other than the almighty God!
May God bless you! @peternhelenodeh

I Believe- Some Good Thoughts

I Believe- Some Good Thoughts!

I believe:
That we do not have to change friends, if we understand that friends change
That no matter how good a friend is, they are going to hurt you every once in a while, and you must forgive them for that.
I believe:
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. The same goes for love.
I believe:
That you can do something in an instant that will give heartache for life.
I believe:
That it is taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I believe:
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I believe:
That you can keep going after you think you cannot.
I believe:
That we are responsible for what we do no matter how we feel.
I believe:
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I believe:
That regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I believe:
Those heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to e done, regardless of the consequences.
I believe:
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I believe:
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time
I believe:
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you are down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I believe:
That sometimes when I am angry I have the right to be angry, but that does not give me the right to be cruel
I believe:
That just become someone does not love you the way you want them to does not mean they do not love you with all they have. You have to decide if that is enough
I believe:
That maturity has more to do with types of experiences you have had and what you have learned from and less to do with how many birthdays you have celebrated
I believe:
That it is not always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself
I believe:
That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world does not stop for your grief
I believe:
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become
I believe:
That you should not be so eager to find a secret it could change your life forever
I believe:
That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being*

In light of the above, it is important to add, I believe in God, the Father almighty and creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ his Only Begotten Son and in the Holy Spirit, ONE GOD IN HOLY TRINITY.
Amen!

Clinton, Trump and USA

Clinton, Trump and USA:

The 71st Annual A. E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner
Reconciliation, Rejuvenation and Reconstruction

On October 20, 2016 in New York City, a day after the last presidential debate, both presidential candidates, Madam Secretary and Senator Hillary Clinton and Billionaire Mr. Donald Trump attended the 71st Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation in the presence of Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Catholic Archdiocese of New York.

This year distinctly Gotham event attracted a crowd of about 1, 500, with attendees paying between $3, 000 and $15, 000 to attend the dinner, which raises about $5 million to provide services for the impoverished children.
This event in time past has produced dozens of memorable presidential jokes and this year was not an exception!
In light of this development, given the mediocrity and excesses in the campaign trail, it is wise to term the event as a unique opportunity necessary for participants and advocate exuding the virtues of reconciliation, rejuvenation and reconstruction in the quest for true nationalism.
I implore both presidential candidates to put God first and followed by humanity and nationalism.
There should be life after politics and both candidates are advised to follow in the footsteps of the former New York Governor, Mr. A. E. Smith, who was also the first Catholic to receive a major party nomination for president when he unsuccessfully ran in 1928.
Clinton, Trump and the USA are in a critical phase and the only acceptable way is to allow justice, nationalism and patriotism to perpetuate our body politics irrespective of ideological differences.
The United States of America is greater than any individual and must be protected, defended and loved by all her citizens.
God bless you all.

The UK Parliament brawl: A case study of increased in global Political and Ideological intolerance

The UK Parliament brawl: A case study of increased in global Political and Ideological intolerance

I am shocked beyond words that this kind of ugliness can take place in the United Kingdom Parliament.
UKIP lawmaker quits leadership bid after 'altercation' lands him in hospital
A UK right wing lawmaker who wound up sprawled unconscious on the floor of the European Parliament after announcing his intention to run for his party's leadership has resigned. "It is with deep sorrow and regret that I am aborting my leadership campaign and announcing my resignation from UKIP with immediate effect," UKIP's Steven Woolfe said in a statement posted Monday on his website

Reflection:

This kind of situations is most reportable and describable of embryonic democracy especially in the developing countries of the world! By implication not even the politicians in the developed part of the world are immune to such act of barbarism. It is therefore very regrettable to say the least, when countries that have seasoned democratic norms and practices engaged in such an archaic fashion.

This should be a learning period for all mankind that extremism does not have any limit and what is most needed and based on mutual respect for the divergence that permeates our world is understanding, compassion and pragmatism, fear of God, empathy and the willingness to accommodates other peoples perspective without resorting to violence.

I am happy Mr. Woolfe turned in his resignation, nevertheless the did has been done and once more we are witness to yet another fabricated emotion based on dogmatism and mediocrity! What a shame indeed! It suffices to say without question that the attitude of these parliamentarians classically displayed the barbarism that is enshrined in the mentality of the myopic! They are acting like little excited white monkeys.

Congratulations to President Buhari as Germany allocates € 18 billion

Congratulations to President Buhari as Germany allocates 18 billion

President Muhammadu Buhari was in Berlin, Germany, on three-day official visit from Oct. 13 to 15 to discuss matters of security and national development.

Germany has allocated 18 billion for the recharging of the Lake Chad through the diversion of rivers in the Congo Basin to empty their waters into the lake.
Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, unveiled the project at a joint Press Conference with President Muhammadu Buhari following bilateral talks on Friday in Berlin.
This is indeed a positive development given the skepticism, cynicism and sarcasm that Nigeria was portrait prior to the presidency of Mr. Muhammadu Buhari.

There is still more work to be done especially in the fight against corruption, nepotism and dissident mentalities that pitched the have against they do not have, the poor against the rich and Christians against Muslims, among others.

This trip by Mr. Buhari and the outcome is a testimony of who the world is anxious for the giant of Africa and the largest market in the continent can once more lead again, and on behalf of well meaning Nigerians, I thank Germany for their interest.

In a lighter note, without doubt, sexism in context of the Western understanding has never been a culture in Africa and President Buhari has never been known to be an advocate of such negativity. It may interest the die-hard antagonist of the president that his children men and women are given equal opportunities and the same is applicable to his exquisitely lovely and well educated wife!

One of the hallmarks of a mother is the enviable and near sacred task of being the mitochondria of the home, or in simple parlance the “engine room” of the family and by extension the country. A woman’s place is neither in the kitchen nor in the office, but in the engine room of her family and country.

May God continue to bless Nigeria and grant her leaders the right mind and heart to make the country great again, through fear of God, integrity and love. Amen!

I Am Defined By Love

I Am Defined By Love

My commandment is this:
Love one another, just as I love you.
~ John 15: 12

At the last supper Jesus Christ summed up his moral teaching in a single but very powerful phrase,
“This is my commandment that you love one another as I have loved you.”
Christianity more than any other religion is rooted and defined by this singular commandment from our Lord Jesus Christ and therefore completely revolutionized our relationship with God and with one another to the extent that failure to even pray for those perceived as “enemies” is considered unchristian in practice and in faith.
On what basis am I supposed to be define a Christian that is a follower of Jesus Christ or just for the sake of argument, unchristian human being that have conscience and endowed with the ability to love?
Rather than define love based on dictionary criteria, I will rather we see the application of love in order to help us have a clear and articulate meaning of what the implications of loving a fellow mankind or otherwise.
Apostle Paul addressed the Galatians about the necessity for children of God to live by the Spirit as opposed to living by the flesh and in some cases the law (since the law that does not come from God are man-made and therefore cannot satisfy God). According to Paul, if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. On the contrary, if you are living based on the flesh, then definitely the Spirit is not at work in you and consequently, the characteristics that you exhibits are contrary to love.

The works of the Flesh

The man who live according to the law of the flesh or lack the kind of love that Jesus Christ challenges us to exercise have the works of the flesh as the characteristics of his life and these features are: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies and the like.
The kind of lifestyle can never help the individual to love and because of his inability to love, he cannot inherit the kingdom of God! We must never forget that God is love and love is God and without love, God can never find his abode within us.

The fruits of the Spirit
Now that we have seen the features of the life of the flesh or one which does not put into consideration the need for God and by implication love, let us follow the apostle Paul admonition to the Galatians as he explained the opposite of the work of the flesh.
According to Paul, in contrast to the works of the flesh, the fruits of the Spirit are: love, joy, peace, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Life in Christ Jesus

If you believe you are living in Christ Jesus, then you are no longer under the law and all your actions are motivated by faith working through love and nothing else. The visible sign of living in Christ Jesus is living in love, with love and through love and that means allowing your life to mirror the fruits of the Spirit.
There is no law against the fruits of the Spirit, unlike the works of the flesh, meaning if you are in Christ, you live in such a way that the law of man can never find you guilty, since your lifestyle is no longer under the law of the flesh.
As you live in Christ Jesus, you will not desire to hate others, since hatred, the opposite of love is the root of so many evils in our societies such as envy, murder cheating, bearing false witness against others and so on and so forth.
Moreover, a life in Christ Jesus is one lived in love manifested in generosity, selflessness, honesty, kindness, gentleness and faithfulness, among the like.
If God is in you, love will definitely reside in you, and where love is found, goodness and humanity dwell too, and as a result, you will desire to love others as yourself for the sake of the love of God that you already found.

From a practical perspective, in our contemporary society, living and bearing the fruit of the Spirit can be found in common examples such as praying for those who persecute us and at times perceived as enemies, helping people that are of different faith or religion, giving a serving hand to the poor and all those who need our assistance and going out of our way to bring relief to those in distress and love the folks that are rejected, denigrated and condemned in our society as a result of their divergent views in life.
Just like Jesus Christ, as Christian, we must love people such as those whose sexual orientations are different from our traditional understanding of a man and woman relationship, without becoming one. In addition, we must love and support Muslims, people of different ethnicity, cultures and religion,  and those that are differently able, the mentally challenged, prisoners, drug addicts, social and society outcast and guess what, we must also love those we considered to be racists. This kind of power can never emanate from our own effort without relying on the grace of the almighty God and that is why we need Jesus Christ in our lives to help us become like him.

Love is all

Our actions, thoughts and words must be motivated and influenced by nothing short of love for God and therefore love for mankind.
It was love that made Jesus Christ to humiliate himself and accept death, even death on the cross in order that we may gain eternal life in the Kingdom of his heavenly Father.
It was love that made Jesus Christ to perform his first miracle at the wedding in Cana.
It was love that made Jesus Christ to forgive the woman caught in the act of adultery
It was love that made Jesus Christ to raise Lazarus from the dead.
It was love that made Jesus Christ to offer his Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist
It was love that made Jesus Christ to send us the Holy Spirit
It was love that made Jesus Christ to promise that he shall never leave us
If love makes Jesus Christ to perform all these sacrifices for us, what is then our role in life?
In a nutshell, our role in life is to carry out the commandment of God which Jesus Christ gave to us and that is we should love God above all and love one another as ourselves.
A true Christian therefore is the one that live his life in love, through love and with love, and because God is love and love is God, such a person will definitely be living in God and God in him!

Prayer:

Dear heavenly Father,
I am grateful to you for always hearing my petitions and other supplication made to you in thanksgiving for your infinite love, mercy and goodness to me.
Today, I seek your help in carrying out the commandment that Jesus Christ your only begotten Son has given to me at the last supper.
Please kindly grant me your grace to live a life that will be define by nothing else but love.
Let love guide all my actions, words and thoughts.
Let love enables me to pray for all mankind.
Let love train my heart to see you in all mankind.
Let your love strengthen my heart to keep my hope, faith and love alive.
Let your love permeate my heart in such a way that all I desire will be to please you and nothing else
Let your love transform my sorrows, sufferings and pains into your glory.
Let your love help me to focus on you rather than my challenges and difficulties in life.
Let your love heal broken marriages and other unions, so that your holy name will be gloried.
Let your love grant healings of body, soul and mind to humanity.
Let your love stop the useless wars in our lives.
Let your love comfort us in distress
Let your love build our homes
Let your love gives us wisdom, knowledge and understanding
Let your love manifest Jesus Christ in our lives
Let your love grant us Jesus Christ favors
Let your love give us the Holy Spirit today.
Thank you, O Lord my God for all the love you have continued to shower on us through your mercy, compassion and divine providence.
In Jesus Christ mighty name, we rely and hope in your love and nothing else. Amen!

St. John XXIII: Feast Day

St. John XXIII: Feast Day

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams.

Think not about your frustrations but about your unfulfilled potential.

Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed

in but what is still possible for each to do.”

~ St. John XXIII

Reflection:

The almighty God can use anyone to fulfill his divine will irrespective of the age, sex or status of such a person. When Pope John XXIII was chosen as the head of the Catholic pontificate, many expected this 76 years old to be a passive and transition Papacy.

However, God work in a mysterious ways indeed, for behold through him, the Second Vatican Council prevailed.

Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, as he was known at birth was born in Italy on November 25, 1881 and became surprisingly the Pope in the year 1958. Perhaps his most influential decision was the call for an ecumenical council, which would be known as Vatican II. The essence of the council was to “breathe new air” or “update” the church’s practices.

Similar to the path that Pope Francis is taking at the moment, St. John XXIII fundamentally believe that the church must offer the medicine of mercy rather than of severity.

Today the world celebrates his feast day, which coincided with the day that the Vatican II began.

Let us ask the gentle St. John XXIII to pray for us before the throne of grace, so that our hearts may exercise mercy, love and compassion toward our fellow mankind and above all, we may love and serve our God with all our hearts and love him without reservation.
St. John XXIII, pray for us today and always. Amen.

Let Us Pray For America Election 2016

Let Us Pray For America Election 2016

At a time like this, I enjoin the human race to please unite with @Focusinlove and other well wishers to pray in a special way for the United States of America, as we hopefully look forward to the November Presidential Election 2016.
In the most recent times the bigotry, prejudice and intolerance exhibited by the presidential candidates and their cohorts is better imagined than described, as some completely negate patriotism, nationalism and humanity, while at the same time glorifying dogmatism, severe discrimination and denigration of one another.
In spite of the negativity that have saturated this presidential election year 2016, I am still hopeful in the timely intervention of God, therefore, let us go on our kneels and pray that the almighty God will come down and rescue mankind once again.

Let us pray
Dear heavenly Father,
It was through your providence that today we are given the choice of the presidential candidates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
We beg you to grant every American the wisdom to vote wisely and based on their faith and conscience and above all the love that they have for you.
Nothing is impossible for you, O Lord, my God and therefore, confidently I approach your throne of grace and beg that you will lead us to the right choice, where love, hope and faith will reside and freedom, mercy and justice shall flow like a river.
Bless President Barack Obama and his team!
Bless Senator Hillary Clinton and her supporters!
Bless Mr. Donald Trump and his supporters!
Bless all the candidates and their supporters!

And please help all Americans to appreciate and understand that there is no need for White America or Black America, Red America or Blue America, Rich America or Poor America, but rather what is most urgently needed is one United States of America, where all Americans fear you, my God and we learn to love one another.

Touch the hearts of all voters and those being voted for to understand the necessity of humanity, the fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom and also the need to exercise moral authority based on your love and nothing else.

O Lord, my God, I thank you heavenly Father for always hearing my prayer whenever I call upon your holy name, and I ask all these in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reign with you and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever. Amen!
God bless America.
