Dear President Barack Obama,
On March 16, 2016 I watched live on national television when
you announced Chief Judge Merrick Brian Garland as the most qualified nominee
for the Supreme Court of the United States of America, to fill the vacuum left
behind following the transition of Justice Scalia to glory.
Your choice was in my opinion an epitome of nationalism,
pragmatism and patriotism, coupled with a touch of humanity and mutual respect
for all Americans irrespective of political and ideological divergence.
During your speech, you emphatically, articulately and
patriotically made a compassionate case for the necessity of the continuity of
the Democratic System in the country as enshrined in the constitution of the
United States of America.
The world is very proud of you and Americans could not have
been happier to have your kind as the Commander-in-Chief and the head of the
Executive arm of government in this uncharacteristically polarized state of
affair as a result of the nonchalance and partisanship of Senate Republicans
unilateralism in severely acting as obstructionist since the inception of your
administration.
Your humble reflections in making the case for Chief Judge
M. B. Garland also exhibited the virtues that are essential for humanity to
thrive in an era of political mediocrity. Judge Garland hard working mentality,
his love for country and upholding the constitution and most importantly the
love for family, which is the microcosm of the country at large clearly
manifested to the entire world that you are a very compassionate, understanding
and pragmatic leader that empathizes and not simply sympathizes without the
feelings of others, even when they acted in ignorance.
I am overwhelmed with joy to be counted worthy to witness
this moment!
My take on the manner and fashion that you handled this
nomination process leading to the announcement, is that you have once more demonstrated
to the American people and the world at large that you are indeed a true leader
that understood the difference between partisanship and patriotism, dogmatism
from collaboration and myopic mentality from broad mindedness.
Additionally, you also demonstrated the virtues of humanity,
charity and kindness by nominating a judge that in layman parlance is a
moderate and therefore will bring the much needed balance to the highest legal
bench in the country.
I am very happy that you have fulfilled your constitutional obligation
as the president of the country by nominating Chief Judge M. B. Garland to fill
the vacancy at the Supreme Court! The rest of the process is now left in the
hands of the Senators, and by faith I believe good judgment will prevail,
either now or later.
Last but not the least, I took the time to write to you
principally because like millions of your supporters, you need all the encouragement
that you can get, and also to remind you that we are praying for you day and
night!
As an immigrant from Nigeria, I too am very concern for my
children who are Americans.
Therefore, on behalf
of my family, my wife, Helen and my children Oga, Oronya, Olofu and Onoja and
myself, I want to once more thank you so much for your understanding, maturity
and fear of God that has endowed you with wisdom beyond your equals. Our God
will continue to protect you and prosperity, peace and love shall always abide
within your household now and always.
Amen.
Amen.
Sincerely
Peter Odeh
