Come to me!
“Come to me, all who
are
labor and are burdened,
and I will give you
rest.”
~ Matthew 11: 28
Our lives in this world have never been easy and will never
be easy because it is a perpetual struggle between good and bad, freedom and
bondage, faith and doubt, hatred and love and above all the choice between
eternal life and death!
What are you going through in your life today that has
become a “labor” and “burden” to the extent that it is threatening your faith
in God and therefore affecting our relationship with our creator.
Many instances abound that can clearly manifest the physical
weight of lives labor and burden, especially when we ask why do things happen
the way they do; earthquake, natural disaster, death, accidents and wars, among
others. What about sickness, incurable ones such as cancer, and how do we deal
with lack of employment, inability to provide for loved ones and thrown into
circumstances beyond our control? What about when our faith is challenged with
the threat of martyrdom?
So, we may ask:
Is it the barrenness in my life that is my labor and burden
today?
Is it the hatred that surrounds me that is my labor and
burden today?
It is the fear and anxiety of life that is my labor and
burden today?
It is a rocky marital life that is my labor and burden
today?
Is it the betrayal and deception from trusted ones that is
my labor and burden today?
It is a broken relationship among family members that are my
labor and burden today?
Is it unfilled dreams and aspiration that is my labor and
burden today?
Is it the lack of faith in my children that is my labor and
burden today?
Is it the raging wars and other crisis that is my labor and
burden today?
Is it the lack of employment that is my labor and burden
today?
Is it immigration that is my labor and burden today?
Is it the color of your skin that is now your labor and
burden today?
Is it failure and lack of success that is my labor and
burden today?
Is it the lack of faith in God that is our labor and burden
today?
Are you so much in despair that you now doubt God’s ability
to repair your circumstances?
Are you lacking in love within your marriage, with your
children and families, with friends, colleagues and those you come in contact
with?
Are you dealing with a painful situation and unwilling to
forgive those who have hurt you and therefore this has become your labor and
burden today?
Are you no longer sure of a better tomorrow and this have
become your labor and burden in life?
The “Labor” and “Burden” in our lives are those
circumstances both physical and spiritual, real and unreal that make us to
question God’s steadfastness, infinite love and divine providential cares. Yes,
the weight of what we are experiencing in life may burden us to the extent that
we may lose hope in tomorrow and consequently become doubtful, hateful and
disgusted with the cross that we are carrying.
Our Lord Jesus Christ recognizes these “Labor” and “burden”
that we carry, and that is why today, he is reaching out to us personally again
with this pragmatically soothing and comforting words, which are truth,
because, our God is faithful and trustworthy and never lie.
Today the same Jesus Christ, the savior of the world, the
King that is to come and which has indeed come, is here and promising us his
peace, prosperity and providential care, if only we are ready to let go of our
confusion and turn to God!
Let us therefore empty ourselves before the throne of grace
and allow Jesus Christ to fill us with his Holy Spirit, for where the Spirit
abides, there is life.
Let us raise our voices and proclaim saying “I will praise
your name for ever, my king and my God.”
It is about time we turn to our God and believe that what
the Lord has said, he will do, no matter the circumstances we may be
facing, because throughout history the
faithfulness of our God has never being in doubt, and that is not about to
change now.
Hold on to God and let the words of his Only Begotten Son,
Jesus Christ, our Lord and savior heal our fears, anxieties and doubts today
and may it permeate our hearts, so that we begin to see our lives through the
eyes of faith in God, rather than our physical eyes, which are filled with
human limitations.
“Come to me, all who
are
labor and are burdened,
and I will give you
rest.”
Prayer:
Jesus Christ, you have the words of eternal life, please
come to me today and help me to find true rest in you. Amen!
Jesus Christ, you are my Lord and savior, please come to me
today and heal my pains and help me to find rest in you. Amen!
Jesus Christ, you are the Son of God, please offer our needs
to your heavenly Father, that we may enjoy your perpetual peace, prosperity and
providential cares now and always. Amen!
Jesus Christ, you are our King, send your Holy Spirit to
come and dwell in our hearts and help us to see you and abide in your life
giving words and reject any form of distraction that takes from us your
promises of eternal life and joy. Amen!
